Organic NLO materials mainly fall into neutral molecular optical materials and ionic optical materials with an electron donor-π conjugate bridge-electron acceptor (D-π-A) configuration, , ]. Compared with inorganic materials, organic counterparts exhibit the advantages of ultra-fast electro-optical response, low dielectric constant, and diverse molecular design possibility. Different types of nonlinear optical materials have received considerable attention in NLO optics. In addition to second harmonic generation (SHG), electro-optic modulation, and optical rectification, many applications would significantly benefit from nonlinear optical crystals, , ]. The design of a material with strong second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) responses is highly attractive, , ]. Moreover, the optical properties of the DABT, including its permittivity, absorption coefficient, and reflectance, were systematically investigated, revealing that the DABT crystal is an anisotropic and a new and promising material with hydrophobicity and anisotropy, holding great potential applications in nonlinear optics. Results indicate that the as-designed DABT crystal possesses non-centrosymmetric structure with space group P2 1, and particularly, it exhibits a large static first-order hyperpolarizability of ∼117 × 10 −30 esu. A simple approach that can be employed in rapidly and efficiently evaluating the second-order nonlinear properties of organic crystals based on its crystal structure information was also proposed. In this work, a new benzothiazolium-based ionic organic NLO material (E)-2-(4-(dimethylamino)styryl)-3-methylbenzothiazol-3-ium 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (DABT) containing strong electron donor and acceptor was designed and theoretically investigated. Second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal materials are applied widely.

While anyone else is shooting- whether it’s your opponent or your partner-touching a puck that is in play is not permitted, nor is touching the playing surface or the frame of the table. Going beyond the foul line at any time during the round results in a penalty. If you want to know about a puck’s position, you must ask your partner. The players are effectively playing two games at once, and combining the team scores. When playing in teams, however, teammates stand on the opposite end of the table and play every other round, shooting from alternating ends of the table. In a singles match, it is permissible to go to the other end of the board to see the position of the pucks. While it is permissible to touch the frame, avoid touching the actual playing surface with either hand before, during or after making a shot. Do not hold a playing puck in your hand while your opponent is shooting. Also, avoid extending the lower half of your body past the end of the board. To avoid any penalty points, ensure that you do not, in any way, rub your hands over the playing surface. There are certain violations that will cost a player one point. In a four-player game of ‘doubles’, the first team to get twenty-one points is the winning team. In a two-player game, the first player to get fifteen points is the winner. If a puck is touching the line, it receives the score from the lowest zone (for example, a puck in the second zone that is touching the line for first zone would receive one point). A puck that sits in one of the scoring zones receives a score of one, two, or three points, according to that zone. If the puck is overhanging the edge of the table, it scores four points. For your puck to score points, it must be on the table, over the foul line, and closer to the end of the table than any of your opponent’s pucks. At the end of the round, only the player whose puck is closest to the edge of the table can receive points. If your puck passes the foul line, but then bounces off a puck and goes back into the illegal zone, both your puck and the puck of your opponent are removed from play.Įach player slides a total of four pucks to complete a round. Ideally, you can hit your opponent’s pucks into the alley, and therefore out of play, while moving your pucks into a higher-scoring position. It is possible to hit the pucks of your opponent when sliding your puck down the table. Pucks that fall into the alley remain out of play for the rest of the round. The table is surrounded by a gutter, called the “alley”. If the puck does not pass the foul line closest to the shooting player, it is considered to be in the ‘illegal zone’ and removed from the table. The center of the table is divided from each end by two lines called the “foul lines”. The main idea is to get the pucks as close to the end of the board as possible, without them falling off the end. Players alternate sliding their puck down the shuffleboard table. Shuffleboard is played with weighted pucks, colored red or blue to indicate which player or team they belong to. Players can flip a coin to decides who goes first. Before the game begins, it is considered a sign of good sportsmanship for all players to shake hands. Once sites were selected, Mlinaric set about writing the clues-mini-poems that rhyme with a slightly Seussian cadence. There is something a little bit Goonies, perhaps a little Indiana Jones about scavenger hunts-particularly in the case of Mlinaric’s quests. The spiral-bound book, designed to jot down notes, features riddles to more than 342 hidden and overlooked works of public art, architectural oddities, and under-the-radar museums. “My cousin and I spent hours drawing scavenger hunts and treasure maps to the patch of trees between her lawn and a neighboring grocery store parking lot,” writes Mlinaric in the introduction to her new book Chicago Scavenger: The Ultimate Search for Chicago’s Hidden Treasures. But writing this book, I think everyone is so much more complex and multidimensional than sometimes you’re able to be on television. But I never really felt like, oh, I wish they knew this or that. So I do feel, in a sense, that people did know me. I mean, I was definitely not guilty of oversharing. I was revealing a lot of myself when I talked about Jay - not nearly as much as people reveal today. They saw when I really cared about a social issue. They saw when I could do a hard-hitting interview. I think people saw me in lighter moments. I actually felt, because I was - another overused word - very authentic in my job, I hate pretense. When you were on the “Today” show and everybody had an opinion and thought that they knew exactly who you were, did part of you say to yourself, like, if only they knew that I was actually X? And what was that? What did you feel like was the Katie Couric that nobody suspected you really were? katie couric So I think that was one of the impetuses for writing this book, like, hey, I’m finally telling it like it is from my point of view. But I haven’t ever really said, hey, this was my experience.Īnd you may think I’m a certain way, but this is actually who I am, how I was shaped, decisions I made, challenges I faced. I’ve been kind of an avatar of, I think, a modern working woman, working mother. That’s one of the reasons, Pamela, I wrote the book. And so I imagine that has been a very hard thing to deal with over the years, being talked about but then you’re not really supposed to talk back. And so there’s lots of gossip and talk about you.īut at the same time, you’ve been a journalist, where you’re not supposed to have opinions and you’re supposed to stay quiet and you’re supposed to stay neutral. On the one hand, you’ve been the subject of many people’s opinions because you are in the media and you’re on television and people know who you are. I am going to write an honest account of my life, and I am going to talk about things that I think are important, that may be uncomfortable, that may be admissions of my shortcomings, but that really, truly reflect what - through my lens, of course, and my point of view - what my life experiences and relationships, high points and low points, were really like. Going there was also used when I talk about an open and honest conversation about mortality or death with my husband Jay when he was so sick with stage 4 colon cancer, how I couldn’t really go there.Īnd of course, going there, finally, is just being honest. Going there, I think, to me, means taking risks, leaving NBC and the comfort of that organization and going to CBS to anchor the evening news, I think, was going there. I moved from Washington to Atlanta to Miami back to Washington. Who knows? But I really wanted to talk about my - first of all, sort of my journey, which I hate that word because I feel like it’s so overused at this point.īut going there, I really committed myself to focusing on my career early on. It might have a quadruple entendre at this point. But what do you mean by that, and why did you choose it for the title of this book? katie couric I’m going to start, actually, with that title, “Going There.” Obviously, it has a double entendre, maybe a triple entendre. Homer also destroys the Statue of Liberty and a giant hamburger. Homer goes through Mexico, Australia, and Germany before climbing up the Eiffel Tower and destroying Stone Hedge in Scotland and a giant meatball in Italy. Using his new powers, Homer competes in the annual Duff Ultimate Eating Challenge contest with Bart helping him. Bart and Homer stop them and the police arrest Skinner. While underground, they find out that Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph have been sent by Principal Skinner to steal museum artifacts. When Bart tries out his powers (he turns into Bartman), he finds Homer and they go down the man hole near the Springfield Natural History Museum (Homer was going to shoot bats while reading swimsuit magazines). along the way Homer kills some brown chocolate bunnies and climbs a big cake before he wakes up and it was all a dream.īart buys Grand Theft Scratchy from the Sequel Stop only to have it confiscated by Marge (she puts it is Homer's underwear drawer along with his BB gun and swimsuit magazines) then when Bart goes in an alley outside he finds the Simpsons Game manual. Homer is in a chocolate world when he meets a white chocolate bunny. In the Xbox and PS3 version, all of Springfield can be explored and the levels are started from certain buildings, depending on the main location of the level. There are several hubs in which these can be picked up: the Simpsons house, the backyard of the house, and the game engine. Some of them can be picked up randomly, while most of them have to be completed to get to the next one. Maggie has no powers, but Marge can send her through small openings into shafts that her family can't access. In the Xbox and PS3 version, Marge's shield item is a police hat to turn into "Marge Cop", which makes her stronger and invincible while her mob can throw rocks at enemies (She's the only character that doesn't get nerfed when invincible, merely that she can't use the megaphone blowback). She can also place Maggie into crawlspaces. Marge has a megaphone to recruit people to a mob and tell them to destroy, fix or build things and to step on platforms. In the Xbox and PS3 version, Lisa's shield item is a comic book to turn into " Clobber Girl", a superhero version of herself to destroy things only Marge's mob can break, but she can't use the sax nor the Hand of Buddha. She can later flick, electrocute or freeze enemies with it. She can also enter a meditation point in on a Buddha statue to use the Hand of Buddha: she can pick up and drop big things controlling her hand with her mind. Lisa can stun enemies playing her saxophone. In the PS2 and PSP version, Bart's major power is making bats fly out of his cape. In the Xbox and PS3 version, Bart's shield item is a metal head to turn into "Robo-Bart", a robotic version of himself to shoot lasers through glass, but he can't use Bartman abilities nor the charged shot. He can also turn into Bartman: he can glide opening his cape, climbing walls and ziplines and grappling into grapples. In the Xbox 360 and PS3 version, Homer's shield item is a hot-pepper to turn into "Lava-Homer", a big lava ball that can walk on hazardous terrain, like barbed wire and defeat enemies and destroy things by touching them, although he can't use any abilities other than the aforementioned ones.īart can shoot rocks or other things with his slingshot, which later becomes a wrist rocket. Another of his powers is eating Gummi Venus de Milos to turn into "Gummi-Homer", a big gummi ball to shoot gummi balls to enemies. His other power, which he gets later in the game, is inhaling helium to turn into "Heli-Homer", a big gas ball to float into the air. His main power is eating to turn into Homer Ball, a big ball to burst or slam enemies or walls. The MONTH function returns 6, then adds 7 to it from cell C2. If you see a day difference that looks "off by one", it's actually correct and you're seeing the extra leap year day counted. Years are abstractions though, so unless you try to deliberately bracket February 29 in a leap year you might not even know a leap year is in the calculation. Does the year calculator include leap years? Try it: enter the day and the next date and you'll get '1', not '2' or '0' days in between. The year calculator starts by counting the entire first day, but doesn't count the ending date. Lets you answer how many years are there between these two dates.
However, due to the setup in the cell tube, any type 18650 will work. What’s included is a flat top unprotected cell. The Wizard Pro is powered by a single 18650, and the appropriate type is included. It’s a friction fit deep carry steel clip, which attaches in either of the places the headband clips. The manual calls it a “handband.” I suppose it’s a way to carry the light strapped around your hand – but I’d imagine it more as an armband. To be honest I’m not sure what this guy is. (For that matter, it’s easy to unscrew the tailcap even while the light is in the band, too.) It’s easy to get in and out, and there’s no fussing with slipping the light into some silicone rings.Īlso, the charge cable work easily while the light is connected. This is a well documented “nice connection,” but is in fact my first experience with it. It snaps into the grabbers, and then a rubber o-ring is pulled over it to secure it in place. The attachment for the light is quite novel. Total package when running as headlamp is 152g. The headband has some grippy forehead area, too. That’s going to be a downside for some, but I like headlamps like this. This over the top strap is not removable. The band is comfortable, and has an over-the-top strap, too. The Wizard Pro Nichia Warm is primarily a headlamp, and the Armytek branded headband is going to be the way to use it as a headlamp. The head end has only a button – no spring. this light can be mechanically locked out with just a small twist. However, unlike most unanodized threads…. The threads on the body are unanodized, square cut, and quite long – so a bunch of twisting is required in order to remove the cap.Īlso since these are bare threads, they don’t feel quite as smooth as I might like. The tailcap must be twisted for charging. The Wizard Pro Nichia Warm has Armytek’s signature extreme levels of printing. More on this in the charging and retention sections. The tail end has the magnetic charge connector. The body is more or less featureless, due to this being a headlamp going to live on a headband most of its life. The optic covering this emitter is dimpled, and not just that – there’s also a nice anti-reflective coating on there. Also note how the fins extend past the bezel – this will come up later. There’s a good amount of cooling area below the head – more than just fins there’s quite a bit of mass there. But this light is not so much so, and isn’t an annoying amount of chalky at all.
